A LETTER FROM OUR VP PHILANTHROPY

At Alpha Chi Omega, love is at the center of everything we do. It’s the love we pour into each relationship our sisterhood fosters. It’s the love of showing up for your sisters on their best and worst days. Most importantly, it's the love Alpha Chi pours into our national philanthropy, Domestic Violence Awareness, as we promote healthy love in the Chapel Hill community.

Epsilon Chi is proud to partner with two local nonprofit organizations, A Lotta Love and The Compass Center, to support survivors of domestic violence. Through annual events such as our Alpha Chic Thrift Store, Taco ‘Bout It, and our Donut Let Love Hurt Pit Sit, we have raised over $30,000 for these organizations since 2025. Not only do these events raise necessary funds to support these organizations, but they give our sisters the opportunity to advocate and educate our community on the power of healthy love.

And our impact extends beyond campus. Through A Lotta Love, we have helped remodel over 100 shelter rooms into safe, welcoming spaces that feel like home. Just as we work to create a sense of belonging and care for each of our sisters, we are proud to extend that same care and compassion to families in the Chapel Hill community.

What sets our sisterhood apart is the physical impact Alpha Chi is making in our community. Through our partnership with A Lotta Love, our sisters have helped remodel over 100 rooms for survivors and their families living in transitional housing spaces. The importance of a safe and comfortable space for these individuals cannot be understated and our sisterhood takes pride in our opportunity to contribute to this sense of safety.

The women of Alpha Chi Omega never fail to show up for each other and their community. I am humbled to serve a sisterhood as compassionate and giving as Alpha Chi and am continuously proud of Epsilon Chi’s dedication to our philanthropy.

With love,

Taylor Robinson

ROOM REMODELS

During room remodels, our sisters team up with the organization A Lotta Love in remodeling bedrooms in hopes of creating safe and comforting places for those affected by domestic violence. Each room is made to feel like home, and they are commonly filled by families and little kids! Being able to work on creating these spaces has a great affect on our sisters nad provides the opportunity to grow closer while giving back to the community.  We are truly thankful for the work that Lotta and her organization, A Lotta Love, do for the women in the Chapel Hill community.

PANHEL AND IFC EVENTS

Throughout the year, we will partner with other Panhel and IFC organizations to host events on campus. In the past year this included concerts, picnics, benefit nights at local restaurants and pickleball tournaments. Most affectionately known is Greek Groove - an end of year dance competition across the Panhellenic Sororities. Last year we took home second place and a $500 donation to DVA! All of these events allow us to raise money for important causes across different organizations - while also fostering a sense of community in Chapel Hill.

FOOD FUNDRAISERS

We host two food fundraisers each year that bring our community together. In the fall, we have Alpha Cheese, featuring Chef Mark's famous grilled cheese and tomato soup. Then in the spring, we have Let's Taco 'Bout It, where Chef Mark prepares an incredible build-your-own taco bar! During these fundraisers, members of the Chapel Hill community gather at our house to share a delicious meal while engaging in meaningful conversations about the prevalence of domestic violence in our area.

SAND SLAM

Sand Slam is our very first philanthropy event of the semester! During this sand volleyball tournament, different Greek organizations on campus forms teams and compete against one another! Alpha Chi sisters are coaches for the teams and all the proceeds benefit A Lotta Love and the NC Compass Center. Sand Slam is a great way to bring UNC students together for a great cause.
